A noite foi de Homeland que levou seis Emmys, três nas principais categorias de drama para melhor série, actor e actriz. Na comédia, Modern Family, arrecadou o Emmy de melhor série e actriz secundária. Game of Thrones também arrecadou seis Emmys, mas em categorias técnicas. Desta forma, Mad Man não fez história e Breaking Bad não foi a revelação da noite.
